For shingle roof, we mainly use IKO products. There are 30-year shingles and 25-year shingles. We recommend the former as the price difference between the two is slight. Three-foot-wide felt paper or ice/water shield will be placed along the edge of the roof. And all existing vents are replaced. Unless required otherwise, plumbing stacks and flashings will be painted, but not replaced.
A flat roof consists of three different layers: Protective Board, TF95 Base, APP Cap. Protective board is secured by screw; propane torch is used in installing the other two layers.
We also do repair and installation of siding, eavestrough, downspouts, and soffit. There are two kinds of siding materials: vinyl siding and aluminum siding. We use Kaycan products.
Besides appearance, the roof and siding also protect the house by withstanding rain and sunlight in summer, snow and ice in winter. Low-quality roofing shingles or a porous siding allows water to permeate, and wind to penetrate, into the house, causing damage to walls and ceiling, not to mention the discomfort to its residents.
